Here We Go

You Know That Standard Tuning Is E, A, D, G, B, and E.  Barre Chords And Power Chords Are

Derived From The Root Notes Of The Top Two Strings.  This Means You Can Play Any Chord Up The Fretboard Based On

The Top Two Strings E and A.    That Makes Our Job Easier Since All We Have To Do Is Figure Out What Note

We're Playing And That Will Be The Chord We Are Playing.  Lets Find Some Notes On The E String.

Note: There is a whole Step (2 half steps) Between Every Note Exept There Is Only A Half Step Between The Notes

E and F, and a half step also between B and C.  This is important!

E--0----- This would be an E note since the string is Played Open

E--1----  This is an F note since it is only a half step between an E and an F

E--2----- This is a F#

E--3---- G

E--4---- G#

E--5---- A

E--6---- A#

E--7---- B

E--8---- C  Notice the Half step again between B and C

E--9---- C#

E--10--- D

E--11--- D#

E--12--- E and now we are at the octive which is what always happens from the open to the 12th fret.
